Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday 8 pm announced that the currencies in the denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 will be invalid from 12 o'clock midnight of 8 November .
Where can I exchange or deposit my Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes ?
- You can deposit the old notes at your nearest bank, cash deposit machines or post offices accounts from November 10 till December 30 without any limit.
- You can also exchange Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes for lower denomination at banks, head post offices and sub-post offices by filling up money exchange form. (Take Aadhaar card and PAN Card when you go to exchange notes).
- Notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 are also accepted till 11 November at
- Petrol Pumps,
- Government hospitals,
- Railway, airline, government bus ticket booking counters,
- Milk booths authorized by state governments.
- After 30 December notes of Rs 500 & 100 can be deposited at Reserve Bank of India (RBI) offices till 31 March after filling a declaration form along with Id proof and reasons.

Exchange Limits
- Yo can get only upto Rs 4000 per person in cash exchange.
- ATM withdrawals will be restricted to Rs 2,000 per day.
- Withdrawals from bank accounts will be limited to Rs 10,000 a day and Rs 20,000 a week upto 24 November. After 24 November these limits will be increased.
